What a decentralized swap is

Lesson 1. An exchange account holds funds for you. A decentralized swap does not. You keep the wallet, you sign, and the tokens come back to that wallet.

A decentralized swap trades one token for another without handing the coins to ZyCrypto. You connect a wallet you control. You read a quote. You sign. The bought tokens come back to that same wallet.

This is lesson 1 of the DeFi swap lessons. It is for people looking at new decentralized projects who want the shape of a swap before the ticker.

The lesson series

  1. Start here
  2. What a decentralized swap is (this page)
  3. How to keep a wallet safe
  4. How to check a token contract
  5. The fee and the price move
  6. The seven chains
  7. Your first swap

An account is not a wallet

On a custodial exchange you deposit funds into an account. The exchange can show a balance, freeze it, or ask you to withdraw. That balance is not the same thing as coins in a wallet whose keys you hold.

ZyCrypto does not open that kind of account. A zy.ai login is not required. The desk does not keep your keys, your tokens, or a balance in your name. Connecting a wallet is not a deposit. The words that recover the wallet stay out of every website, including this one. That check is how to keep a wallet safe.

What actually happens

  1. You pick a reviewed token and a chain on each side.
  2. The desk asks Relay for a route and shows the price, the fee, and the minimum you receive.
  3. You sign in your wallet. Until that signature, nothing moves.
  4. Bought tokens arrive in the connected wallet. ZyCrypto cannot send them somewhere else.
  5. If the swap fails, the deposit returns to that same wallet.

The route can pass through a venue such as a decentralized exchange. The quote names the venue when Relay does. You still confirm the transaction yourself. ZyCrypto cannot undo a signature you already gave.

A new project site is a different page

New DeFi projects often have their own site, their own pool, and a ticker that looks familiar. That site is not this desk. A familiar name does not mean the contract is the one you think it is. The next lesson is how to check a token contract.

If the coin is not on the reviewed list, ZyCrypto will not swap it. A new launch does not create an exception.

What you pay attention to

  • The wallet address is yours
  • The contract on the coin is the reviewed one
  • The dollar price is the token price. The quote is the trade
  • The ZyCrypto fee is 1.50% of what you sell. The 0.50% control is the price move, not the fee

The fee lesson is the fee and the price move. The product page is ZyCrypto. The swap itself is zyai.org.

What this is not

It is not advice. It is not a promise that a new token keeps its price. It is not the chat app. Chat lives at zyai.org/AI and can ask you to sign in. Plan checkout, including crypto checkout for Pro or Ultra, is a different product.

You must be 18 or older, the use must be legal for you, and you must not be a sanctioned or restricted person. Accepting the policy stores that choice in this browser. It does not make the swap legal in every country.

Questions

What is a decentralized swap? You sign it in your own wallet. A route is found, and the bought tokens return to that same wallet. ZyCrypto does not hold them.

Is ZyCrypto an exchange account? No. There is no balance held for you here. A wallet connection is not a deposit.

Does a new project's website replace this? No. A project site can say anything. On ZyCrypto you still check the reviewed contract, the price, and the quote, then you sign.

Open the swap when the lesson is clear.

No account. You sign in your wallet. The fee is 1.50%. ZyCrypto does not hold the funds.
